The stage is set for a revolutionary chapter in global club football. The massively expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicks off this summer across the United States, moving far beyond its previous seven-team format to feature 32 elite clubs battling for ultimate glory. And the champion will lift a breathtaking new trophy, its design reaching for the stars.
Forget the awkward December dates of old. This revamped tournament, years in the planning, represents FIFA's ambitious vision for the future of the club game. The journey begins soon, culminating in the grand final at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on July 13th. The ultimate prize awaiting the victor is unlike any seen before in football.
Crafted in collaboration with legendary jeweler Tiffany & Co., the new FIFA Club World Cup trophy is a masterpiece of symbolism and engineering. Drawing profound inspiration from humanity's quest to explore the cosmos, its design pays homage to the iconic golden records carried by NASA's Voyager I and Voyager II probes – artifacts hurling through interstellar space, representing our planet to the unknown.
This isn't a static cup. The trophy features ingenious movable parts, allowing it to transform dynamically. It shifts from the solid form of a traditional shield into a complex, multifaceted orbital structure, embodying the tournament's global scale and the celestial themes woven into its conception.
The symbolism runs deep. The trophy, resplendent in 24-carat gold plating, bears the names of all 211 FIFA member nations. Messages are inscribed in 13 different languages plus Braille, emphasizing football's universal reach. Space is reserved to etch the names of the first 24 champions, creating a lasting legacy.
Celestial elements are central. Symbols representing the beautiful game itself are intertwined with astronomical markers. These denote the approximate positions of the planets at two pivotal moments: FIFA's founding in Paris on May 21, 1904, and the kickoff of this groundbreaking tournament in Miami on June 14, 2025.
"This trophy represents the pinnacle of club football," stated FIFA President Gianni Infantino. "The team who lift it will hold the world in their hands. To the players who conquer it, history is yours! We celebrate this new era and take the game to the world."
Anthony Ledru, President and CEO of Tiffany & Co., echoed the significance: "Designing the FIFA Club World Cup Trophy continues our storied tradition of crafting the world's most revered icons of sporting triumph."
How to Witness History Unfold
Fans worldwide won't miss a moment of the expanded 63-match spectacle. Every single game of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will be available for free streaming globally on DAZN.
For viewers in the United States, select matches will also air in English on TBS, TNT, and truTV. Spanish-language coverage will be provided by Univision, TUDN, and ViX.
The quest for the cosmic cup begins soon. Thirty-two clubs embark on a galactic journey across America, all aiming to etch their name first onto a trophy inspired by the stars and destined for footballing immortality.
