Canadian Grand Prix Secures Long-Term Future on F1 Calendar Through 2035

Montreal's iconic Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will remain a fixture on the Formula 1 calendar for over a decade, with the Canadian Grand Prix securing a contract extension through the 2035 season. Formula One announced the four-year extension to the existing agreement on Tuesday, solidifying the race's future beyond its previous 2031 end date.

The renewal package also includes a long-term extension for Bell Media's Canadian broadcasting rights, ensuring fans nationwide can continue watching the action from Montreal.

This confirmation follows the successful 54th running of the Canadian Grand Prix last weekend, an event that has been part of the F1 World Championship since its debut in 1967. The circuit, named in honor of Ferrari legend Gilles Villeneuve, became the race's permanent home in 1978.

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed gratitude to the event organizers and stakeholders: "I want to thank the promoter, Octane Racing Group, for their commitment to enhancing this legendary venue in recent years. We also deeply appreciate the close collaboration from all local, regional, and national partners who have helped shape this event into the spectacle it is today."

The new deal effectively replaces the previous extension, which ran through 2029. The disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 races, had previously pushed the contract out to 2031. This latest agreement extends that commitment significantly.

Fans can also expect a calendar shift next year. The 2025 Canadian Grand Prix will move to an earlier slot on May 24th. This adjustment involves swapping dates with the Monaco Grand Prix and aligns Montreal more closely with the Miami Grand Prix on the schedule. The race returns to its traditional Circuit Gilles Villeneuve home on June 29th this season.
