Even if the Blues don't make it to the Champions League next season, Chelsea is willing to support manager Enzo Maresca, according to a source.
The Blues had a fantastic first half of the season, but Chelsea's recent record collapse has turned them from outside championship candidates to top-five challengers. Although Maresca's team is still in charge of its own fate, they must contend with a dramatic season finale against Nottingham Forest and Manchester United in addition to the Conference League final versus Real Betis.
In 2025, a number of supporters turned against Maresca, and there have even been rumors that the Italian has caused division within Chelsea's upper management.
Although Maresca has a five-year contract, it is important to note that a formal performance evaluation was never planned until at least 2 seasons had passed.
Although it is clear that Chelsea authorities would love to see this season conclude with both Conference League triumph and Champions League qualifying, neither achievement is seen as essential for Maresca to retain his position.
Mainland Europe and the Premier League are reportedly very interested in Maresca's services; rumors elsewhere have lately mentioned Roma as a potential suitor. However, Chelsea does not want to lose the 45-year-old just yet.
Chelsea will still assess this season's performance and pinpoint areas of concern for the summer transfer window at an end-of-season assessment, but high-ranking officials won't be discussing Maresca's future in great detail.
Even though Chelsea might potentially finish in 6th place for the 2nd straight season, it is said that the management has been impressed with what they see as development on the field. Maresca has gained a lot of admiration in the boardroom because of his statistics and playing style, which indicate that next season will see even more advancements.
