Germaine Pratt Joins Raiders on One-Year Deal Ahead of 2025 NFL Season

Must Read

Veteran linebacker Germaine Pratt has found a new team for the upcoming season, signing a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders worth up to $4.78 million. The move, finalized on June 12, comes shortly after Pratt was released by the Cincinnati Bengals, the team with which he spent the first six years of his NFL career.

Pratt had requested a trade earlier in the offseason and was officially let go by Cincinnati on June 9. His departure followed the firing of former Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, a coach Pratt was reportedly close with. Drafted in the third round (No. 72 overall) in 2019, Pratt developed into a key piece of the Bengals' defense, becoming a full-time starter in 2021 and playing every game since.

In 2024, Pratt delivered his best statistical season, racking up a team-leading 143 tackles—both a personal and franchise high. He also recorded five tackles for loss, two interceptions (tying his career-best), six passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. While he was highly productive, Sports Information Solutions (SIS) noted that he allowed a 69% completion rate in coverage and tallied a career-high 39 broken or missed tackles.

With the Raiders, Pratt enters an increasingly competitive linebacker unit. He joins a group that already includes Elandon Roberts, Devin White, and rookie Tommy Eichenberg. As minicamp progresses, Pratt and Roberts are projected as the likely starters, with White and Eichenberg providing depth.

The addition of Pratt gives Las Vegas a proven veteran presence in the middle of its defense, bringing leadership and high-volume tackling to a unit aiming for improvement in 2025.
