The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic have reportedly agreed to a blockbuster trade. Memphis is sending guard Desmond Bane to Orlando in exchange for guards Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony, a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, No. 16 overall, plus the Phoenix Suns' first-round pick in 2026, and the 2028 and 2030 unprotected first-round selections as well as one first-round pick swap.

Orlando's aggressive move signals urgency to elevate their playoff trajectory. Despite consecutive postseason appearances behind All-Star Paolo Banchero and forward Franz Wagner, the Magic have stumbled in the opening round both years. Bane's arrival addresses their need for backcourt creation and clutch scoring.  


For Memphis, parting with Bane accelerates a strategic pivot toward accumulating assets. Caldwell-Pope brings championship experience and perimeter defense, while Anthony offers bench scoring upside. The draft haul—including four unprotected picks—positions the Grizzlies to either replenish talent or package picks for another star.
