Diontae Johnson Hints at Kenny Pickett Leading Browns QB Battle

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Diontae Johnson has offered insights into the team's ongoing quarterback competition, suggesting Kenny Pickett has emerged as an early frontrunner during minicamp.

Pickett's journey to Cleveland involved a recent trade from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles acquired quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a draft pick in exchange for Pickett. Prior to his time in Philadelphia, Pickett was a first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022.

His stint with the Eagles saw limited action behind Jalen Hurts. He did start one game, completing 25 of 42 passes for 291 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. Pickett also saw some action in Super Bowl 59 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Johnson, who previously played alongside Pickett in Pittsburgh, believes Pickett's experience with a Super Bowl-winning team could prove beneficial as he aims to solidify his position as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
